Unauthorized Credit Inquiry Letters
Use the appropriate letter to notify your Credit Reporting Agency of inquiries listed on your credit report. Ask them to send you proof of your authorization of each inquiry you challenge. It they cannot provide such proof, demand they remove the inquiry from your report.
A few credit inquiries will not have much affect on your score. When you have multiple inquiries from the similar creditors, auto loans for instance, the computer scoring system will assume that you have been getting denied the credit. So use these letters if you don’t recognize the name or the time frame of the inquiry. A good practice to prevent multiple inquiries is to rate shop for your home and autos prior to giving permission to run your credit.
